CHEEKY NAILS AT THE CHEEKY PARLOUR

May 19th, 2015 / Stephane

The Cheeky Parlour is relatively new to the game, as far as nail parlours go. Dubbed as ‘Cowshed’s naughty little sister’, the Cheeky Parlour brand is on a mission to ‘re-write the beauty rules’—and have a ton of fun whilst doing it.

I had the opportunity to visit its newest branch situated within Hoxton Hotel, Holborn. I loved the venue; its exposed, white brick walls, illuminated with bright pink neon lights, the myriad of nail polish colours on display was a visual treat.

What’s more, I came at a time when my nails—just by looking at them—clearly needed a few prayers and miracles. I aspire to be the girl who does her nails beautifully at home: conscientiously applying a top coat, followed by a couple of coats of my chosen nail colour and sealing it all with a glorious top coat. Invariably, I will be that girl at your local bus stop or train platform, sloppily putting on some nail varnish in the two minutes that you are all waiting for your ride to your next destination. One day I will change. One day I might even take off the chipped polish underneath before slapping on a new coat in an entirely different colour. Baby steps.

Nonetheless, having chosen my nail colour from a good range of Cheeky Parlour’s own brand of varnishes, I sat down and let the pampering begin. I opted for the Cheeky Works Manicure (£20), which included a file and shape, some cuticle-shaping magic and a lick of paint.

From hand massages, to the care and attention I received—I felt like a princess for the hour. I also enjoyed eavesdropping the conversations of a hen party that had flocked there too on a gloriously sunny afternoon.

The nail technician that was working wonders on my nails humoured me as I asked for an unusual design. I was pleased with the final result and left happily—flashing my nails as ‘naturally’ as I could.

The one disappointment for me was that despite using washing up gloves and being extra careful as I was lightly pottering around the house later on that day, one or two of my nails were slightly chipped. That aside, I still think it’s worth venturing to a Cheeky Parlour near you—perhaps more so for a manicure for a special night out, rather than hoping for a beautiful set of nails that will look hot for several days. Nonetheless, my overall experience in the hands of the Cheeky Parlour Holborn was undoubtedly a positive one.
