CLOSER LOOK: SLEEPYHEAD® DELUXE

September 11th, 2017 / Stephane

THE COMPLETE CO SLEEPING POD SYSTEM FOR 0 TO +8 MONTH OLD BABIES

As a first time mum it’s so hard to decipher what is worth investing in for baby. With endless products on the market proclaiming to do this, that and the other it’s sometimes a stressful experience figuring out just where to put your money.

On trend and relevantly new to the scene is The Sleepyhead® Deluxe.  A genius concept that comes by way of a pod that allows baby to sleep, rest, co-sleep, lounge, play, cuddle, do tummy time and get their nappy changed!

During the first few weeks of my son being home, I found it a great asset and had no idea just how vital the Sleepyhead would be for me as a new mum. As soon as we brought baby home from the hospital we took out the cardboard as advised and we were all set to go on our Sleepyhead experience. It would be a great comfort to me whilst friends and family came over, with him being in view on the couch, whilst telling the stories to our loved ones of his arrival into the world.

Like most mothers (well I’d like to think I wasn’t being a possessive OTT momma), I couldn’t stop checking every minute if he was sleeping and peacefully breathing away! The Sleepyhead allows for safe co-sleeping; so he was right next to me for the first few months to literally keep an eye on. He was where I could see him and tend to his need at all times. It was a major reassurance for me and eased me into relaxing and actually sleeping whilst he was.

Travelling with it also has been amazing – with visits to see grandparents to our family weekend getaway in Brighton, the Sleepyhead provided baby with the comfort and reassurance that he was in a familiar place, even if in a new environment and us as parents to know he would be safe in his Sleepyhead.

It is said to be suitable for baby from birth to eight months, however at 11 weeks BB has had to move out of his Sleepyhead as he has completely grown out of it. This has been a big shame as I wasn’t quite ready to transition from co-sleeping.

To get my son settled into his cot, we did place the Sleepyhead® Deluxe in his cot for day time naps so he would become accustomed to the space, which also worked a treat and now he is just about managing to sleep in his cot comfortably on his own.

The Deluxe+ model comes with custom toy loops which makes it compatible with the Sleepyhead® Mobile Toy Arch (sold separately) and Toy Set (also sold separately). The Sleepyhead® Toy System is a pick and mix system. Complete with a lightweight design, this is such a relief and blessing for any new mum and offers so much comfort for you as a new mum who wants to keep an eye on baby at all times.

All materials used are breathable, washable and hypoallergenic and offer excellent air-permeability. So when BB did have a little accident or regurgitated on it, I would remove the covers with ease, pop it in the washing machine, dry it and within 2 hours or so it was as good as new. Additional covers are available separately to match your mood, room and style also.

My Sleepyhead Deluxe  experience has been a big part for me as a mother. Getting comfortable enough to sleep and be independent around the house whilst adjusting to motherhood. For me it offered reassurance that my son was ok, and gave me the confidence to slowly adjust to him becoming more independent to sleep in his cot.

The Sleepyhead Deluxe retails at £120 at John Lewis or 140 EURO from their site.
