5 Liquids to help improve your diet and give you Healthier Skin

August 12th, 2014 / Stephane

In recent months, I have noticed that as I am hitting my mid- twenty’s my skin is changing. A result of weather inconsistency’s, my diet and sleeping pattern… I made some changes and having seen fruitful results I’ve decided to share them with you!

Here are 5 tips to help you feel better about yourself and your skin.

1. A GLASS OF WATER WITH HALF A LEMON DAILY

I drink a glass of lemon water every morning and every night, it balances my PH and helps clear my system. Lemon water helps to eliminate toxins and waste products in the body and works as an alkalizer. When I had an immense break out of spots, almost like acne on my forehead, I was informed by my dietritian to cut out a lot of my fatty and oily diet and substitute the bad stuff for the likes of sweet potatoes, white meats, steamed vegetables, lots of fruit and lemon water…

Within weeks I began to see a real difference in my skin, its’ tone and how my body felt overall. It’s so cost effective. Just buy a bunch of lemons, slice in half and enjoy one each day!

2. COCONUT WATER

If you are an active person like me, coconut water is just for you! Coconut water contains essential electrolytes which keep the body live and kicking, this includes the muscles, nerves and heart. It is also naturally fat free for those trying to loose weight and leaves you feeling full of energy and revived.

VITA Coconut Water is one of the popular brands, however you can purchase coconut water from any health store or supermarket. They retail a little higher than your Cokes, Red Bulls and ChocoMilks, but you get what you pay for ey! Personally it has been a great substitute from other juices and has contributed immensely to my new fresh skin.

3. SAY NO TO DIARY AND YES TO ALMOND MILK

I have never been able to stomach Soya Milk (yuck), so on a visit to the States recently I was introduced to this alternative from dairy by my aunt. Almond Milk is a combination of almonds mixed with water and sometimes sugar (you can get both “sweetened” and “unsweetened” options). Now here’s the great thing about Almond, Hazlenut and Soya milks, they are all naturally low in saturated fat, they source calcium and vitamins B2, B12, D* and most importantly they are free from lactose and dairy! Somebody say *WINNING*!!!

For those who are dieting, these choices in milk are great as they are all fat free!

(if you are allergic to nuts then Almond Milk is not for you) Yikes!

4. HOME-MADE SMOOTHIES

Now everyone loves a smoothie. I know I certainly do! Smothies are a great way to keep your energy up at the start, middle or even close of the day. Giving your body and skin that real boost and your 5 a day supplement. There are no artificial flavours to preserve your home-made smoothie and it is full of natural ingredient. BOOM!

The misconception at times is that only fruit can be used to create a bad boy smoothie, but vegetables can also be a treat! Just about anything can be thrown in from ginger, apples, strawberries, cucumbers, pomegranates, watermelon to mango and even lime (the list is endless). As you experiment with your smoothie maker you will be able to put together your perfect concoction taking you to smoothie heaven!

5. WATER

Last but certainly not least… It’s the money maker! Water! Yes… I never used to be a frequent drinker of water. I much preferred the Supermalts, Orange, Tropical and Apple juices, but for the sake of better looking skin I am a changed woman! We should really have an intake of no less than 8 glasses of this good stuff… A DAY! However don’t go OTT! Drinking too much water can be toxic so like everything listed above drink in moderation.

Water helps to flush out all the toxins you intake daily, it keeps the heart healthier and keeps your skin hydrated giving you a real glow when you intake regularly.

Whether its a fresh bottle of Highland or Evian, it is essential that the good old government juice is a major part of your diet in the recovery process to good skin.

So here you have it dolls!
