REVIEW: HAIR BY FIZZY

July 7th, 2017 / Stephane

INTERVIEW WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS GIRL BOSS, Ify Onochie

We love to champion small businesses here and Milk + Honey and came across Hair by Fizzy when looking for a hair extension brand. Her hair is 100% human and she is great and getting her customers delivery in a short time. I initially wanted straight Peruvian hair to blend in with my coarse afro hair, but got Brazilian body wave. The bundles were thick and full; I’m not an avid weave wearer, so didn’t really know where to start, but knew half a head would be the perfect look to blend and look natural. Fizzy sent over three inch bundles at length 12′, 14′ and 16′.

So only using two bundles as I wanted a really natural look this was the end result. The hair was durable, silky and had a brown tint to it in the sun. It was full with no shredding. All round I’d give the quality a 5* rating. I’m no expert in hair, but this was definitely good quality and for those who are avid weave wearers will also last long for you as it had minimal shredding after applying heat and blowing out too.

We decided to catch up with the brains and beauty behind the brand to get an idea of who and what inspired to take the leap to be her own businesswoman. Here’s what Ify had to say!

  1. Who is the brain child behind Hair By Fizzy?

My name is Ify Onochie, aka fizzy, the Brain child behind hairbyfizzy, I am a hairstylist with over 10 years experience and now specialises in providing quality and authentic hair extensions to women who want natural looks.

  1. Where did the name originate from?

The name fizzy is a nick name originated from my Nigerian name Ify.

  1. You specialise in hair extensions – what made you want to go into this line of business?

It was a hobby that developed into a passion.

  1. Being a small business owner yourself, what have been some of the challenges you have encountered and how have or are you overcoming them?

Ans:My initial challenges were getting a good hair supplier, and I overcame this by researching and trying different samples.

  1. Your entire range covers all hair textures and lengths – what is your favourite one?

Ans: My favourite one will be Bodywave because it’s easy to manage, and I can wear it any how I want it.

  1. What are your favourite protective styles for afro hair and what from your collection can help women achieve these looks?

My favourite protective styles will be weaves installations and custom made wigs, and you can use any hair texture from my collections to achieve these looks, like the deep wave, body wave, straight, natural wave, curly and so on.

  1. Is there a quote or mantra you live by that keeps you going everyday?

 My case is different!

  1. Lastly, for anyone who wants to get into this industry of selling hair, what advice would you give them?

My advice for them, is to do proper research for a good hair supplier, because the market is saturated and it’s only the ones with good quality hair that can excel, and they should also make themselves visible on social media.
