FEATURE: LOVE AND 2013

December 22nd, 2012 / Stephane

As the year draws to an end it is inevitable to become a little more reflective and pensive. Your list of goals and your plan for 2013 may be extensive but I have one question for you, is Love anywhere on that list? Are any of your plans and goals grounded in Love? I’m not talking about that romantic kind of love, but that amazing, unconditional agape kind of Love. So here is an additional challenge I would like to suggest to help make the upcoming year a pivotal one…

Time To Go Deeper

love

The first step is to remove the boundaries and limitations we place on Jesus which often keeps us from understanding the depth of His Love. Unfortunately life’s harsh realities can often cause us to place Him in a box and overlook the personal and intimate dynamic of our Saviour’s love. The life He willingly laid down, all comes down to YOU (John 3:16-17). Simply because He has an indescribable love for you and longs to move past being acquaintances to being in a real, intimate relationship with Jesus.

Surrender – An Honourable Sacrifice

surrender

In order for us to be filled we must first empty ourselves of all our selfish inhabitations. It reaches a point where we get tired of our hands being in the way and simply lay down our will. There is a supernatural strength and reassurance that comes with letting go and laying it down before the One who has engraved our names on the palms of His hands.

A One Thing Focus

loveoh

We all know that time waits for no man, but sometimes this anxiety can cause our focus to shift to materialistic gain and advancement. Sometimes, throughout all this striving and struggling we overlook the fundamental principal – ‘seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added on to you’ (Matthew 6:33). It is time to go back to basics and renew our minds, whereby our eyes are fixed on the Sovereign God first and foremost; making worship a lifestyle.

Devoted & Dedicated

It is hard to go against the grain of the world and step out on a leap of faith and commit our plans to Father. Every aspect of our lives whether it be financial, physical, emotional or career orientated it needs to be submitted to God and His input needs to be welcomed. Love grows and flourishes with knowledge and that is why spending time with God and getting to know Him is so fundamental to this out pour of love.

In The Overflow

hope

The most amazing thing about Love is the fact that it cannot be measured. Our heavenly Father is eager to fill us with His Love in abundance, to the point where your cup overflows so much so that you and the people you interact with will even begin drinking from your saucer. At the end of the day it is not about us, but rather about bringing glory to God and this can only be fulfilled when we make up our minds to really love how Jesus loved. It’s an encounter that can completely transform your entire perspective

God is Love and Love is a verb, and I couldn’t think of a better verb to accompany you on this journey. I pray that faith, hope and love join you during your 2013 walk and beyond but most importantly I pray that Love becomes a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
