BE INSPIRED: MEET NEW SCANDI BRAND, bordbord

January 1st, 2017 / Stephane

Bordbord is a small independent design studio located in Stockholm, Sweden

Throw a pastel palette in the mix and without a shadow of a doubt I’m in love!  So you can imagine how ecstatic I wash when I stubbled across Swedish brand, Bordbord.  A small independent design studio located in Stockholm founded in 2014 by Camilla Ödmo. Their ethos is all about creating products that are innovative and unique and they are right on track in doing just that. They’re entire collection is full of stand out pieces that will brighten up your home. Both affordable and limited as made in small scales and by hand, having any part of their collection is a real treat.

They’re Side Table B-11  doubles up as a coffee table and magazine rack, now you can’t go wrong with that! Available in three color options, grey, pink and green; the tables are made of 8 mm and 6 mm steel wire and are coated with a powder lacquer.

We caught up with owner and founder, Camilla Ödmo to find out more about her vision in starting her brand and how she brought everything to life.

One – Whats the inspiration behind the name Bordboard?

Bord means table in Swedish. I like the way it both sounds and the composition of the letters. The name in english would be tabletable 🙂

Two – Now at Milk & Honey, it’s no secret we love all things pastel. Your collection is just pastel paradise! What inspired your choice of colours?

Both architecture and furniture play a big part in how we feel. Both physically and mentally. When you enter a room you instinctively get a sense of the space. I think pastels adds a lightness, positivity and playfulness to the room.

Three – As a small business what have been some of the challenges you have faced, what advice would you give to other young women trying to do what you are doing when they face hardship in launching a business?

If you have an idea that you believe in you should try and make a prototype. When you have your prototype, take photos and spread them on social media. Test your product. If your surroundings like what you do, usually more people do. Don’t be afraid of failure and try not to analyse to much. The best way to make things happen is to start doing I think.

Four – What has been the most exciting moment in your journey with Bordbord since your launching?

Right at the start I got the chance to collaborate with fashion designer, Damir Doma. That was an interesting and fun challenge.

Five – What is your personal favourite item from the collection?

I like side table B-11. It’s like a little piece of candy. It’s versatile and at the same time almost like a little sculpture.

Six – With 2017 now here, what’s next in store for you and your brand?

I have some new collaborations I’m looking forward too and I hope I’ll be able to produce a new side table. Time will tell all…
