5 Natural Beauty Must-Haves from PUR MINERALS

September 10th, 2014 / Stephane

 I have to admit, when it comes to make-up I am about as fussy as it gets. The idea of letting someone else do it for me is my worst nightmare, and you will only ever find me rooting around in my gal pals’ make-up bags to borrow something in an absolute emergency. The reason is because I just know I am one of those girls who look worse and worse the more make-up I wear. In fact, I end up looking suspiciously like a drag queen. That’s why today’s review excites me so much, because I get to show an example of how make-up can be used to accentuate what you already have, with a little help from good-for-your-skin beauty brand PUR MINERALS.

PUR MINERALS pride themselves on not only achieving flawless results, but on being animal cruelty-free and environmentally friendly {to read their about their core values visit their About Us page}

1. Correcting Primer

Correcting Primer

Whatever type of foundation you use, the secret to a flawless finish is a good primer. The trick is to get your skin to glow before you apply your base. This one did exactly what I wanted, minimising my pores and leaving me with a fresh, dewy looking face. My only criticism would be the slightly sticky rather than silky texture it has.

2. CC Cream Broad Spectrum

CC Cream Broad Spectrum in TAN

This gives coverage somewhere between a mineral powder and a liquid foundation. I was super impressed with how light this cream felt on my skin – nowhere near as heavy as my normal foundation. You only need the tiniest amount too for a radiant, natural finish and mine matched my skin tone so well. It’s a cheeky little multitasker too, incorporating SPF 40, moisturiser, concealer and brightener all into one product.

3. Hot Rocks Blush

Hot Rocks Blusher

This might just be the best blusher I’ve ever used. No exaggeration, the colour is just to die for. It’s subtle, but enough to lift my whole complexion whilst still maintaining a natural look – super easy to blend and avoid that ‘blocky’ blusher effect. You also get the peace of mind that you are using a product that isn’t harmful to your skin in any way.

4. Big Look Mascara

So I’ve been using this for about two weeks now and I have to say my lashes look so healthy! The reason why? This little baby has argan oil in its formula. Not only do your lashes appear long when wearing it, but this product actually nourishes them too. Genius. The brush is good, but I’ve used better – little tip: if you get a slight clump (and you have a steady hand!) use a small safety pin to separate lashes rather than trying to use the brush as this will only give you a thicker coating.

5. Mineral Lip Pencil with Lip Brush in Pink Gypsum

Mineral Lip Pencil in PINK GYPSUM

For me, this is about as natural as you can find; the shade is literally the same colour as my lips. I found this pencil slid on without pulling at my lips at all, and it was perfectly appropriate to use as subtle full lip colour and not just a liner for lipstick. The texture was lovely and silky without being chalky and catching the drier parts of my skin (thanks to a week of sun in the Algarve).

Here you have it! The final look!
