FEATURE: The 15 greatest Christmas movies of all time…

Its that time of year again, that time that everybody loves…its christmas. So we here at milk and honey we have compiled  a list of the top 15 greatest christmas movies of all time. So get out the snacks, snuggle up on the sofa and make your way through a mega christmas movie marathon.

15. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989) – This traditional  family comedy follows a father’s desperate efforts to create the perfect Christmas setting for his family at Christmas and the obstacles that he faces along the way.

14. The Santa Clause (1994) – Tim Allen’s comedy drama about a man who accidentally kills Santa Clause on Christmas Eve and in turn learns that he must become the new Santa.

13. The Polar Express (2004) – Tom Hanks starts in this stunning motion capture film about a young boy who goes on a magical journey on a train heading to the North Pole on Christmas Eve.

12. How the Grinch stole Christmas (2000)  – The Dr. Seuss classic telling the story of the Jim Carrey as the grouchy Grinch who plans on stealing Christmas from the town of Whoville. 

11. Love Actually (2003) – Romantic comedy featuring an all star cast. Love actually follows the story of eight people and their families in London during the Christmas season.  

10. Miracle on 34th Street (1994) – A little girl who doubts the existence of Santa Claus is pleasantly surprised when she has a chance encounter with a man she thinks is Santa convinces her to starts believing in the magic of Christmas again.

9. Elf (2003) – Will Ferrell stars in this comedy about Buddy, an Elf from the North Pole who is sent to the USA to find out about his true identity.

8. While you were sleeping (1995) – Sandra Bullock’s Rom-Com about a lonely women who pretends to be the fiancé of a man in a coma. When his family welcomes her as one of their own, she doesn’t have the heart to admit she has lied.

7. Jingle all the way (1996) – Family comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.  The story follows two dad’s journeys to find the most sought after Christmas toy for their sons the day before Christmas.

6. Gremlins (1984) – Unusual Christmas tale about a town that is taken over by little monsters also known as Gremlins.

5. The nightmare before Christmas (1993) –Tim Burton classic about the king of Halloween, Jack Skellington who discovers the twisted magic of Christmas.

4. It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) – Often considered the most classic Christmas movie of all time.

3. Edward Scissorhands (1990) – Another Tim Burton classic. Creepy Christmas movie about a boy with scissorhands who comes to live with a small town in surburbia during the Christmas season.  

2. The Snowman (1982) – Although only 30 minutes long and a made for TV movie The Snowman is a good old fashioned enduring Christmas seasonal classic.  

1. Home alone (1990) – An 8 year old boy is stranded at home during the Christmas holidays when his family forget him behind. During his time ‘home alone’ Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) finds all sorts to occupy himself with like standing up to two burglars. A classic Christmas movie that is sure to appeal to the whole family.
