One of the biggest challenges in life is discerning when it is time to tighten your grip or let go. What is your first reaction when that relationship takes an unexpected turn and love seems painful; or when you face resistance in your place of work and at home, or maybe when you receive that ultimate no that seems to be one too many; often time the advice is to let it/that/him/her go. Apparently something that is ordained to be yours shouldn’t be that difficult and if it’s meant to be it would just be. I don’t believe this to necessarily be the case and I want to encourage a shift in your perspective. The bad news is that as soon as you entered this world you stepped onto a battlefield, however the good news is that your destiny has already been written and you win, all you need to do is make sure you get there.
Even before your conception, God’s thoughts towards you were good and beautiful. He smiled at the idea of walking this journey with you to co-create and participate in the amazing collaboration that would happen along the way with you and your loved ones. It’s a sad thing to miss this blessing simply because we chose to let go during a season where we needed to be holding on and staying faithful.
Divine Discernment
It is so important to understand the times, reason and purpose of your season. Otherwise you could end up walking away from walls not realising they were concealing doors of destiny and all it required was you stepping into your God-given identify in order to come into possession of that vital key. Being in right standing with God in these matters is what gives us the peace that surpasses human understanding. It is this peace that will comfort you when turbulent waves surround you.
The Journey
We will spend our lifetime gradually evolving into the amazing person God originally intended us to be. This process is only made possible with His unending, unfailing and unmerited Grace. So in those times when you don’t feel like you can hold on any longer just stretch forth and touch Grace. Remember that the development of your attitude and character is what Father is most concerned about. These difficult seasons have purpose as they help cultivate Christ-like mindsets within us for His Glory and Honour.
Staying Power
This sojourn is not for the faint hearted so gird up your mind, set it straight and stay. The times where you have to grit your teeth will not last forever. The season has to change and you will need to change with it to avoid coming back full circle and finding yourself in a similar predicament just with different surroundings. Patience under pressure brings forth beautiful things that endure just look at gold as an example; and you are far more precious than Gold!
“2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1: 2-8 (NKJV)
