REVIEW: SPARKLE WITH Astrid and Miyu

September 28th, 2013 / Stephane

“We wanted to fill in a gap by providing good quality costume jewellery that is affordable” articulates Astrid and Miyu co-founders Connie Nam and Jenny Orlova in a recent ‘In Detail’ interview. Grazia, The Observer, Brides, Marie Claire, Stylist, Vogue.co.uk and many more publications are quick to catch up on and feature the innovative jewellery brand. I am unsurprisingly next to try and fall in love with their latest collection, are you?

Enclosed within a cream-coloured lace-embroidered bag lies an array of Astrid and Miyu’s finest.  My favourite among the collection, a dainty gold intricate horse shoe necklace, is by far a piece to be worn every day- its simplicity and versatility makes it a day-to-night must have (I haven’t taken it off since). However, for a more bold statement approach, try adding the multi stone gold chain to not only cast in deep hues of azure and turquoise but to add a touch of royalty to your ensemble. The rich hues of the pendent are neighboured with precarious gold studs, so when it’s worn, your neck will be encompassed with not only affluent stones, but with daring spiked accents also; what more can you ask for?- nothing, evidently.

Astrid and Miyu, the London based jewellery brand, have quickly swept over our nation, bringing their vibrant-hued collection to the attention of every collector. With grunge-influenced florals invading the A/W collections (see Mulberry and Lanvin for their take on moody blooms) why not adopt a budding touch of greeneries, with Astrid and Miyu’s intricately-constructed ring (I can’t imagine winter without it).

Whether you prefer the simple things in life- horse shoe style- or prefer to integrate the more complex, Astrid and Miyu’s collection never fails to disappoint. Once you’ve fallen in love with the pieces themselves – whether it be the rose-gold crystal necklace, or the small jade wrist wrap around- click away and sit tight for your package to arrive (free delivery tempts every eager buyer) . Or, in the wait for the postman, peruse through Astrid and Miyu’s staff styling tips. Go on then, don’t waste any time. There are necklaces that need homes you know.
