It’s been a while since I’ve tried a decent pair of headphones, having rocked the impressive, but predictable Beats By Dre for several years now. I’ve been quite happy with these, not necessarily because of their sonic range, but more so for the fact it always sounds like one crazy party, whichever song I happen to listen to. So it would take some pair of headphones to tear me away from them. Did the Skullcandy Navigator headphones do so?
I was so thrilled to try them on! The packaging was neat, stylish and compact! Reminding me somewhat of an Apple product. The headphones come complete with a small carry case, perfect for taking them out on the road with you. It also must be noted that the headphones cord is a small detachable jack. These come in handy, because often, when a pair of headphones break, it is usually somewhere along the cord that damage has taken place. So this was a small but essential feature.
Taking the headphones out of the box, it’s clear that Skullcandy have taken a lot of thought and care in the design, look and feel of these Navigator headphones. They are compact and can be folded into itself to save space, making them ideal to carry around in your handbag, should you so choose. The headphones are on ear, meaning they fit directly onto your ear, as opposed to inside or around your ear, and the cushiony material makes them feel quite comfortable, while also helping to block out any sound from outside. With their shiny exterior and range of colour options, they certainly don’t waiver on the style front.
But what I find most important, when choosing a pair of headphones is the sound quality. I liken it to choosing a boyfriend/girlfriend. The exterior can look nice, but if what’s inside isn’t good enough, you’re not making the grade! Fortunately enough for the Skullcandy Navigator headphones, they sound amazing! Coupled with the fact that any noise pollution is eliminated, the bass sounds fat and the sound in general is extremely crisp! Priced at £85 you are really getting great value for money. While the headphones may not deliver the same sound quality as some of the higher priced models of Bose and Bower & Wilkins, they certainly have no trouble competing with similarly priced headphones. In fact, I would go so far as to say my beloved Beats By Dre have found a bit of competition!
All in all, these are a great pair of headphones, that look great, feel great and sound great! Milk & Honey gives them a 4 out of 5. Go get them now!
