I have had a shaky history with massages in my lifetime. So much so that up until recently, I would have come to the conclusion that I just don’t like massages and far from being relaxing—they are times where you must patiently suffer under the unrelenting hands of an overly-zealous practitioner. Of course, my inconsistent relationship with confrontation (otherwise known as the fear of being able to plainly say ‘excuse me, can you please apply less pressure as I think you may have just dislocated my shoulder?’) is another problem that doesn’t go hand in hand with dubious massage methods.
In fact, my last massage (which I vowed would really be my last) is a case in point. During what seemed like an eternal session, there were moments where I thought she was wilfully trying to snap my vertebrae and wondered how she possibly thought I could be relaxed when it felt like I was moments away from seeing the great white light. It was only when I accidentally let out a whimper of pain that she loosened her death grip.
So when I had arranged an appointment with practitioner Jenny Foster from Urban Zest, a mobile massage company, I didn’t have especially high hopes—just painful, distant memories. Nonetheless, on one Friday afternoon after a long day at work, I dashed home to find that Jenny had transformed my living room into a den of calm. So although I had come in completely flustered, I was soon transported into a haven of tranquillity for the next hour as my work cares (and toxins, no doubt) melted away. In short, Jenny gave me the best full body massage I have ever had and has single-handedly (well, maybe double-handedly) restored my faith in the art of massage. Whilst I will not be throwing myself into the hands on just anyone, I would definitely consider going back to Urban Zest for pampering and would highly recommend them. They offer a wide range of treatments and they can come to your home or even your workplace; most of all, they guarantee relaxation amidst the stresses of London living. Urban Zest certainly provided the perfect treat to the end of a long week and a beautiful start to the weekend.
So if you want in on the action, be sure to visit their website at urbanzest.co.uk or email them at hello@urbanzest.co.uk
