There are some places on earth where words will always fall short of expressing the sheer and utter bliss of it’s existence. That’s just how I feel about Korakia Pensione. In the heart of Palm Springs, California, this retreat and resting place comes in at first place in our Palm Spring Travel Guide.
Upon arrival we were in for a dreamlike, unique adventure. Once check in was complete in the open aired reception space; we were ushered to the Nomad Suite where we would reside for one night. The door to our suite was left ajar welcoming us to what would truly be an enchangting night; reinforcing the openness and energy this space creates.
Every ounce of the architecture and design of this place is set to cultivate peace and tranquility. If ever Anthropologie were to have a hotel, this would be it.
We decided to keep the doors to our suite open and really take in the experience a whole. The Normad is a large and bright suite situated in the center of the courtyard adobe. The living room overlooks the swimming pool with views of the San Jacinto Mountains beyond. Complete with a small private patio, a Queen bed, kitchen, living area with an awesome vinyl player and a fireplace.
Our kitchen came complete with appliances which was perfect for our Trader Joe dinner that evening, along with freshly picked oranges from the Korakia yard and a note reminding us to be eco friendly with our usage of energy and water.
One of the most exciting features of this suite for me was the Crosley Vinyl Player. Our room came complete with some classic vinyls, including Bob Marley’s Legend album, Jazz legend Miles Davis and of course the Beatles. It doesn’t get better than that right? Every detail is set to create an enhancing yet home like ambience and we loved it!

As we explored our suite, the bedroom was a real shock factor. I’d never seen a bed like this. At first glance I was slightly taken aback, but curious of its story. Set in stone, literally this was one of the softest mattress ever!
The bedroom came complete with a stunning en suite shower too, with patio doors overlooking a beautiful garden area, it really felt like home.
The bathroom had a rich Moroccan design, cobbled with stone and was both earthy and continued the stone theme in the bedroom also.
For the writer, creative, artist or even a couple this space offers so much. It cultivates such an organic and fresh sense of simplicity, love and discovery. It’s not trying to be anything it isn’t! Korakia just is!
There are a vast range of activities for guests to enjoy, from Afternoon Moroccan Tea served at 5pm complete with ginger nut biscuits (cookies), pistachio nuts and freshly cut orange slices.
Forget Boris Bikes; Korakia have there own set of bicycles allowing there guests to commute to the local store or cafe on what is always a beautiful California sunny day.
For me I completely fell in love with this place at the outdoor cinema. Everyday on site the Korakia team set up a cosy experience for it’s guest, showcasing a classic film. For us we had the joy of watching the 1942 black and white classic, Casablanca under a beautifully lit starry sky. Life doesn’t get any better than that.
In the morning all guests are served a freshly made complimentary breakfast served on the patio. We cheated and had ours brought to our room. Complete with fresh fruits and home made french toast, it came with freshly squeezed orange juice. Being a Brit not fond of french toast, this dish certainly made me a believer.
With an array of Moroccan and Mediterranean-style villa’s, the Korakia Pensione experience is truly remarkable. An organic spring of peace, creative and simple elegance combined. Everything from the culture, the ambience, the staff and the designs are the perfect blend for relaxation. Highly recommended on by us, it’s a certified bucket list add on.
