Where did you go?
We went to Las Iguanas, a restaurant that champions flavours and dishes from South America. Las Iguanas has branches all over London and the UK, but we opted for the branch in Spitalfields. We were on a quest to try out some of the tasty things on their Autumn menu.
Yum! What was great about it?
Well firstly, we were loving that Las Iguanas caters for various dietary needs. The waiter whipped out a ‘veggie and vegan’ menu and also mentioned that there is a gluten free menu too. So it’s definitely a great choice for those who do not or cannot eat everything. In short, you’re bound to find something that you like.
What did you eat?
As a starter, we shared ‘Holy Guacamole’ and corn chips. The guacamole came deconstructed, so we loved that we could add as much or as little of the ingredients as we liked. Naturally, we decided that more is always more.
For mains, we opted for the seabass sprinkled with spring onions, sitting cheerfully on a bed of rice infused with garlic, white crab and king prawns. The dish was also embellished by a tomato, coriander and red pepper sauce.
The dish had very light and subtle flavours—so for those who prefer big, wholesome flavours, you may find yourself grabbing a few condiments to boost the taste. That said, the fish was beautifully cooked and the plate overall was filling and hearty—which is what you want on a cold evening. We also ordered a side of plantain, which disappeared within minutes.
What was the damage and would you go again?
Between two people, our meal came comfortably to around £30. Yes, we would definitely pop in to Las Iguanas again. The selection on the menu was a winner, there was a lovely vibe and it strikes us as a pretty good spot for great chats over tasty food.
