MILK BOTTLE SERIES: 10 things new mums can relate with

January 15th, 2017 / Stephane

So you recently popped a baby out, congrats! Here are just some of the joys and challenges you may have encountered along your new journey:

One – Most obviously, sleep has gone from being your BFF to an acquaintance you haven’t seen in months.

Two – You know that regardless of how nice you think your outfit is, it will be stained with baby sick and dribble ten minutes from now.

Three – Having a shower or a bath feels like an uninterrupted bliss you never fully appreciated before. Can I get an amen?

Four – Your gratitude for your mum has increased at least a thousandfold.

Five – You thought that to “wet yourself with laughter” was just a turn of phrase, but your weakened pelvic floor may be teaching you otherwise.

Six – You now may realise that breastfeeding isn’t as easy-breezy as it looks. Your boobs are sore, you still can’t lay comfortably on your stomach because of them and say goodbye to your polo neck bodysuit for a while – it’s all about easy boob access nowadays.

Seven – Your baby’s smile can make your world light up.

Eight – You sometimes poke your baby just to make sure they’re okay when they are sleeping. When I say sometimes, I mean all the time.

Nine – You have become a connoisseur of baby poos. You know the frequency and colour they should be at any given stage. You will also have realised that your baby’s favourite time to poo is two minutes before you are about to leave the house.

Ten – You are acutely aware of your daily need for grace, strength, wisdom—and permission to stay in your pyjamas for most of the day. Not everyday jeans, after all.
