LTMD: I Am Complete: Created To Love

July 9th, 2012 / Joseph P

You were created to love and be loved- it’s in the very DNA of your being- from the moment you were conceived until your dying day, love will hum a melody that your soul was created to hear.  Love’s song does not boast, nor does it take pride in its own beauty.  Love sings of patience, of kindness, of joy. This song of love always protects, always trusts, always hopes and is never perturbed by a silent response.

But Love’s song is not the only song you will hear. There are other songs in this world and they do not hum softly, as love does. These songs shout, they scream, they demand that you listen.  They sing of ambition and success, they sing of selfish gain and lustful pride.  They sing a song that satisfies the flesh but only for a moment; songs that sing of a perfect unattainable beauty, but leave behind a distorted echo.  Songs such as these may be loud but they are shallow- they may sing of love but they cannot grasp it. In the end, these songs are not songs at all- they become like a resounding gong or a clanging symbol, their melody faded to nothing more than irritating noise. But Love continues to hum, even when the noise fades, when the false echoes of love can no longer be heard- when the soul grows tired and weary of the songs that promised much but delivered nothing- Love hums on. This hum, at first a background noise that distracted you from the other songs, finally becomes the only song still singing and it compels you to turn your ear, to catch your breath and wonder at the beauty of its melody.

The melody of Love has notes that tell a story- your story, His story, the greatest story ever told. The story is fire that stops at nothing, sweeping every heart before it in a torrent of passionate pursuit.  This melody laughs at the false songs, the songs that tried to kill, to steal, to destroy love’s true sound. Love’s song laughs because it’s invincible and it laughs because it knows no bounds. There is no depth in all the earth where the song cannot be heard, no height in all the heavens where its melody does not resound.

Listen and you will hear it.

Love’s song is found in the intricate design of a single snowflake, in the innocent laughter of a small child- it can be heard in the gentle wind on a summer’s day and the crashing of the waves where the ocean meets the rock. But the song also sings when the rain falls, it can be heard in the silence of a loved one’s grave; when pain and loss collide, there too will the song be heard.  If only you choose to listen.

And so this song of Love will find you, will seek you out- wherever you are, whatever you’ve done, however many other songs you gave your heart to. Even if your heart is shattered and you fear it’s beyond repair, the sound of Love’s song will pour into your heart a song of healing, of transformation, restoration.  Deep within this song of Love lies the truth that sets you free, deep within this song is where you will find purpose, future, destiny. And that’s when your heart will find her own voice. Love’s song will compel you to sing, to open your heart and let the music flow- because the song was not meant for one; the song is a chorus, a call to belong, to align, to connect with the voices of others who heard the song too. Sing with them and let the song be heard in the desert wastelands, in the forests and the mountains, throughout the earth, let the song be heard!

So hear me- listen up, don’t waste your years on songs that steal, don’t trade your best for a melody that breaks you, and if perchance you are broken already, if your heart has lost her voice, is out of tune and cannot even hope to ever sing again, then know this- know that the same power that created Love’s song can live in you, through you, can surround you, can give back what was stolen and I  promise your heart will sing again.

How do I know this? If you listen carefully, you’ll hear my rescued heart sing…
