Kristina Dam Studio

One – Firstly congratulations on your business,what inspired you to start KD Studio? 

I had the feeling that i liked to start my own business and first it was only the art prints – i wanted people to have the possibility to buy art that is affordable. Then it developed into sculptures accessories and furnitures over time, because i liked to build up my own universe with honest materials and the love to materials and combinations of material and shape is my passion.

Two – Who were some of your female influencers growing up, and have any of them inspired you to do what you are today?

Ray Eames where a very cool woman, she was actually standing a little behind Charles Eames, but I’m pretty sure that she was the best. Nanne Ditzel and Louise Bourgeois are also some strong women that i admired through my study at the architecture school.

Three – Your background as both a graphic designer and architect is evident in your pieces – do you still get time to work on architecture?

No unfortunately i dont work with architecture any more, but i do interior designs for both private customers and business, so in that case i work with architecture and interior and I really love to do so.

Four – What advice would you give to other young women who want to pursue the unknown or something out their comfort zone?

If you have a dream you must go for it, but it is hard work and you must be ready for that to get succes.

Five – What is your favourite product from your store and why?

I guess it is the marble circles, a sculpture that has a very symbolic meaning and tells the story about Kristina Dam Studio because it is build up of 2 simple geometric shapes in marble and is the most beautiful sculpture.
