FEATURE: STILL YOUR SOUL – S.O.A.R

January 8th, 2014 / Stephane

After writing, Fly Me To The Moon my spirit would not let go of the subject of flying. This word has rang incessantly within my soul: SOAR. This topic, too extensive for me to cover in one article, will be covered in a four part article series where I will expound upon what I have gleaned from every letter phrase in this acronym.

S: Still your soul

If you’ve ever flown in a plane, you understand experiencing turbulence is inevitable. There are many reasons as to why turbulence can occur, but normally it is due to the temporary mixing of old and new air as the plane crosses into another level of elevation. As the older, slower moving air mixes in with the faster moving, new air, there is a subsequent reaction which produces turbulence.

Though some people feel an instant boost at the start of the year, most of us are an emotional nebula, an unformed cloud of many hopes and dreams, yet nothing at all. Sandwiched between a patch of old and new air- our vessels are constantly rocked. Upon realization of our cluelessness, we react in one of two ways: as a Spastic or a Static.

S.O.A.R

I am instinctively a Spastic. By overwhelmingly preoccupying myself I gain assurance (assuring others as well), I am doing SOMETHING. Conversely, I too have felt the call of God to come higher and-done nothing. “Busyness” gave me the false security of working, and settling operated under the false pretense of “reason”. Yet in both cases, I realized, what I perceived a marathon, was instead merely a run on the treadmill. As Alicia Key’s called it “a constant state of going nowhere”. Decisions made outside the rest of God hindered my progress.

You may be afraid, even so, God credits obedience in the face of fear- and calls it faith. To the Spastic believer I give you this word from Exodus 14:14

The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

and Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God;

To the Static Believer: Ephesians 5:14

“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

and Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

S.O.A.R

Will you stable yourself long enough to safely ascend? Will you spring into action to apprehend what is yours? Will you awaken from your paralytic slumber to arrive in his rest? Still your soul knowing God is able to deliver you, in his time,to your destination.

Maybe you desire to go higher, but don’t know how. You’re waiting for God to drop something in your heart. This is me at the start of 2014. I feel something coming, however I don’t know what. Until that thing comes, God is teaching me stewardship of the moment. No matter how small or simple, that thing is before you- do it as unto God (Col. 3:23). Do not despise these small beginnings (Zech. 4:10) and as you go higher, know there is greater favor to sustain you as you go!

Still your soul: Know He is God.

Dare to S.O.A.R!

Be sure to check back next week for the letter O: Open your heart.

Peace and blessings unto you!

K.Love
