Feature: Perfecting Patience

May 25th, 2014 / Stephane

Patience is a virtue and as a virtuous woman you will find it to be one of life’s vital companions along this sojourn. We actually spend more time waiting than we do getting so how do we ensure that we still have life in abundance during those still waiting periods. There is a frustration that comes with the revelation of your purpose and stepping into your destiny because we tend to struggle in understanding where we are now whilst still maintaining faith and hope in what God has placed inside of us. Often times what God shows us doesn’t mirror our surroundings but that does not taint our calling or the God that has called us. Grasping this truth and maintaining this perspective is the epitome of peace and humility. It is in these waiting seasons that we develop Christ-like characteristics and establish a prayer life. The fulfilment of your destiny and the manifestation of those divine prophetic words rely heavily on your prayers because it is in such circumstances where your patience is perfected.

Prayer

Prayer is a dialogue and will therefore require a lot of listening on your part. You can’t expect God’s input on things you do not discuss with Him; that is why it so vital to be in right standing with Father to ensure those channels of conversations remain open. Often times God will show you the end so you have something to reach towards, but God is more interested in the journey between that end goal and where you are now. Because it is in that stage that you evolve and step closer to being the person that He always ordained you to be. Every story has a beginning, middle and an end and it is in the middle chapters of your beautiful life story that you walk and talk with Him in an intimate relationship, that’s a true co-creative partnership. Yes He is the Alpha and Omega but He loves to love and appreciates your input.

Patience

Patience is moreso about the attitude you have whilst you are waiting. Are you waiting for certain milestones or conditions to arise before you start living? Or are you living a life of hope and expectancy in the meantime? The perfection of patience is a painful process and many have opted to live without desire or expectation to prevent disappointment and avoid the hurt and challenges that are often associated with waiting. But numbing desire kills the passion of life and there is only so far one can go without passion. So keep the flame of desire burning and you will find it may even become fuel to your prayer life.

Perseverance

Hope, faith and most importantly love are the three things that need to remain when pushing through. The waiting season you may go through is pointless if you are not waiting on and in God. You can’t wait using your own strength, you can only mount up on the wings of eagles and soar into your destiny by waiting on Father and being sustained by His strength. Yes, waiting is a weary game so be honest with God during this part of your walk. Tell Him when you’re tired and frustrated and welcome the Holy Spirit to be your helper.

Progress

Circumventing the waiting room may get you to where you feel you need to be or have what you want but it will be gained at a cost. You won’t be adequately equipped to bear and sustain the gift He wanted to give you or you may even end up short changing yourself. Physically, not much seems to happen or move whilst waiting. But prayerfully waiting unlocks a beauty within the depths of our souls that human eyes cannot see. Sitting at the feet of a Sovereign God and involving Him in every aspect of your life is a partnership that will bear fruit which lasts for eternity. Powerful prayer will bring about the perfecting of patience and although it may be tarrying be at peace because I can assure you that wonderful things happen in the waiting room.
