FEATURE: New Year & I’m Happy In My Skin

January 15th, 2014 / Stephane

Sometimes it’s hard for me to look in the mirror and like what I see. I know God made me perfect the way I am, but sometimes I have some not-so-pretty things covering my face that hinder my appearance and the way that I see myself.

“If only they would go away, I’ll see myself as beautiful.”

I’m sure some of you have the same way of thinking.

“If only I could ______, I’ll finally see myself as beautiful.”

 HAPPY

It’s the hardest thing when you want to be able to see what God sees, but have a few hindrances in your way. However, I have great news for you! We can accomplish this together and get rid of any hindrance that is blocking our view of seeing what God sees, both literally and figuratively.

Many of you probably have resolutions to start going to the gym more. Maybe eat healthier…maybe… You know, the typical cliché resolutions that no one really ever accomplishes by the end of the year. However, this is the year where we can all take these resolutions seriously…TOGETHER. None of us have to go through it alone. This is our year!

To start, we need to set a good foundation for ourselves and realize that beauty starts from the inside, both spiritually and physically.

We need to take into account the fact that God does, in fact, call us precious. In Isaiah 43:4 it says, “Because you are precious to me, because I give you honor and I love you…” If God calls us precious, we need to start believing it, not just in our heads, but in our hearts.

We also need to realize that our body is a temple for God. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, “Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God.”

God didn’t give us these bodies to just walk around and consume cupcakes all day every day. If we are meant to keep our spiritual life in good health, don’t you think God expects us to keep our bodies healthy? Think about it like this, we’re not doing this just to feel good about ourselves, we are doing this to honor God with what He gave us and in a way, thank Him.

HIMS

So let us all do this to our schedule. Start our morning with thanks and praise for another day that God has blessed us with and dive into His Word. Then, let’s get moving! Try a Zumba class. Get a workout app. Go running around your block. Anything!!! Move your body and get your heart rate up! Then start eating healthier. Grad some Greek yogurt. Start juicing. Grab more protein. Cut out carbs!!! Eating healthy will beautify your insides and show on the outside, literally!

Stay confident, don’t give up and remember Hebrews 10:35!
