FEATURE: In Him We Have Everything

September 9th, 2014 / Stephane

A love that won’t relent; a word that is steadfast; a promise that remains faithful. The love of the Lord is deep, everlasting, intimate and beautiful. Broken hearts are healed, lives are restored, tears are wiped dry: there is nothing in this whole world that can emulate the great goodness of our Saviour. “The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever”1 John 2:17. Everything in this world will fade, but the word and love of the Lord will remain eternal. When we are granted the privileges of His world, rejoicing in heavens glorious promises, what else in this world can compare- nothing, because in Him we have everything.

DRIFTING

Proverbs 10:22 says that “the blessing of the Lord makes a person rich.” As a child of the king we are blessed to be a blessing. When we are one with Christ, we have everything He has: all the joy, happiness, contentment, fulfilment and freedom that comes from Him alone. You are financially blessed so that you may be a blessing to others; you are blessed with time so that you may give to others. The Lord uses your abilities, talents and resources so that you may abundantly give to others, shining his glory in the darkness.

happiness

We live in a society that tells us to constantly buy more; that we need more and that it will make us happy. Magazines, advertisements, social media sites and even people tell us where and how we should spend our money. Yes, buying yourselves lovely things makes life fun and special (every girl loves the rush a new Chanel lipstick brings), but we mustn’t forget what is more important. Don’t be consumed by worldly things -set your eyes on the greatness of our Lord. He will, after all, fulfil you more than anything you could ever buy.

Possessions bring only a mere temporary happiness (we get excited, happy, for a while, and then forget we ever bought it) – God, however gives us everything we’ve always ever needed, and it lasts forever. The Lord wants us to live a blessed and happy life, not living in fear, regret or in hurt of past failures. When we begin to unravel the life God has for us, we begin to discover that nothing can ever compare to his love. No house, car, bank balance or certain amount of friends will ever come close to the gifts he has in store for us. As Christians we are able to revel in his eternal grace, love and abundant blessing- and it doesn’t cost us a thing. When we have everything in Him what else could we possibly need?
