FEATURE: Are you Dreaming Big Enough?

February 28th, 2013 / Stephane

I remember hearing Bishop Charles E. Blake say, “unless your dreams require a miracle from God you are not dreaming big enough.”

We all have a purpose and it is our choice to rise to the occasion or ignore the call on our lives. More often than not, we risk only exploring the tip the iceberg of our potential, because that destiny lies below the surface in uncharted depths of dark, murky and cold water. However, no matter how complacent we allow ourselves to be, something in our being cries out for greater.  As children of the creator of the universe, it is genetically in us that we yearn to create. Our predisposition is so powerful, it has power to consume us lest we use it within it’s purposed design. The question we must ask ourselves is: Are we dreaming with the expectation for the miraculous?

Four Questions to ask Yourself to Determine Whether You dream Big Enough…

1. Do you have natural talents, abilities and favor in a certain field? Am I working in that field and am I using those God-given talents?

talent

2. Do you have a great job or position, but have this insatiable thirst to pour yourself into another field of interest?  Is what you’re doing not challenging enough for your natural capabilities?

challenge

I am in no way undermining the importance of contentment and gratefulness. For the bible tells us in 1 Tim 6:6 “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” Everyone’s  life has seasons and we are to embrace the season we are in, but not at the cost of our goal. Every season is preparatory for the one that is to come yet, we must as Paul says in Philippians 3:14 “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” The only way out is up!

3. Are you doing what is comfortable-not what you dream of doing, because it will not provide the stability you or others want you to have? Are you afraid if you did, you would not have the life you always dreamed you would have?

dream

Firstly this is logistic, but not spiritual . It makes perfect sense to do what brings you the most security whether it be money, friends, connections, etc. However, I realize and have to be daily reminded- you can have the most “stabile” setup for life and yet be spiritually unfulfilled and unhappy. People who have money, cars, friends, homes, or even the most “secure job” are not more fulfilled- but those who walk in their divine purpose are.  Ultimately this perspective of life is imbedded in fear and we know that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. (1 Tim 1:7)

 dream

Secondly: I have learned if God has given you charge to do something, He WILL provide for you. He will give you “provision for the vision”– seeing as His reputation is on the line He is going to come through. More than that we know, He is not a man that he should lie. (Numbers23:19) Cast out your fears and rest in who God is. He has nothing less for us but plans to prosper us to give us a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

 4. Are you qualified?

dream

If you’re not qualified and you have been given divine favor to complete a task, the biggest favor you can do yourself is to make a goal and move while trusting Him.  God uses the smallest things to confound precedent and the greatest wisdom of man. (1 Cor 1:27)  It all began when he made the World out of nothing and chose man to dominate it with whom He made out of the dust.  It’s His specialty-try Him for yourself. We won’t always know the way, but he will direct our steps. (Proverbs 16:9) When you get there give Him glory-for that was the purpose of it all.

dream

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.  There’s a song Vanessa Bell Armstrong sings it says ” Oh Lord I love you, show me the desires of my heart. Oh Lord I love you. You are the desire of my heart.” This is a song I love to sing. Ask God earnestly to know your purpose. No doubt he will answer, but what will you do when He answers your call? God has shown me: Limitations are permission slips for uninhibited, unbounded creation- for the miraculous lies beyond the periphery of our fears. What will you believe today? Will you dream big enough to experience the miraculous?  Will you have the courage to realize your dreams? Beyond YOU your life awaits…
